For people who love to enjoy social activities both at home and around the region, Avalon Village Retirement Community provides plenty of opportunities to have fun!
The Avalon Activities Committee meets monthly to sustain, explore and develop new opportunities that residents and guests may enjoy. Because the committee largely comprises residents who are in regular contact with friends and neighbors, the ideas that are generated by the committee are of broad interest.
From the annual winter Billiards & Pinochle tournament, which was established in 2009 and grows in popularity each year, to its fair-weather companion, the summer Bocce tournament, Avalon activities often involve setting bodies in motion to maintain agility and balance. Weekly tai chi, meditation and yoga classes are fun ways to exercise on a regular basis. The Retired Seniors Volunteer Program holds its twice-weekly Bone Builders sessions at Avalon, too.
For music lovers, either the Dyer’s Den Down Under Pub or the grand living room in the Manor House are venues for live performances by music groups to get toes tapping during Pub Nights, holiday parties, and other special occasions. Music from the baby grand piano often fills the air. Curious minds enjoy presentations by a wide variety of speakers.
Maine is full of beautiful sights to see year round and many fun spots to visit.
