The Manor House at Avalon Village stands at the heart of community life. Perched 110 feet above the Penobscot River, this beautiful 1939 Tudor‑style mansion is surrounded by one of the oldest stands of pines in the Pine Tree State. Its majestic trees, stately architecture, and sweeping river views create a welcoming sight in every season for residents and visitors alike. With its timeless charm and exceptional setting, the Manor House provides an ideal backdrop for weddings, parties, social gatherings, meetings, and fine dining throughout the year.

The Manor House is readily available for residents to reserve for private gatherings. With its timeless elegance and beautiful setting, it provides an ideal backdrop for reunions, club meetings, bridge parties, and celebrations of every kind ~ whenever the occasion calls for that distinctive charm found only at the Manor House.

Public events are held at the Manor House as well. For many years, the Hampden Garden Club has chosen the Manor as the setting for their regular meetings, gathering in the warm, welcoming spaces of the historic estate. The group also hosts its annual holiday meeting and party here, along with other special gatherings throughout the year. They continue to enjoy the Manor’s comfortable atmosphere and elegant surroundings ~ an inspiring environment for planning community projects and celebrating their shared love of horticulture.

Rich woodwork creates a warm, inviting atmosphere in the lower level, home to our Dyer’s Down Under Pub. This popular gathering spot welcomes residents and friends for pool, poker, board games, puzzles, and the occasional round of darts. Upstairs, the grand main living room offers an elegant setting for meetings and celebrations of all sizes, with a baby grand piano available whenever music is desired. Two adjoining dining rooms, seating up to thirty guests, provide stunning views of the Penobscot River, a stately stone fireplace, and a hand‑painted mural of 19th‑century Bangor created by the former owner of the Dyer Mansion.

In the upper living room at the Manor House, one finds an inviting space for more socializing, exercising, reading, and relaxing. French doors open to a balcony with spectacular views of the Penobscot River from high above. Friends often gather to play bridge, favorite board games, or to visit over a cup of coffee while hands are busy with needlepoint and yarn.

Walking trails and peaceful lanes wind for more than a mile, connecting the Manor House to the Penobscot riverbank, the pine forest, the Edythe L. Dyer Community Library, and the surrounding village neighborhood. These paths are perfect for strolling with canine companions — an Avalon pooch is a happy pooch, indeed! Whether the goal is a brisk dog walk, a bit of bird‑watching, or simply soaking in the beauty of the outdoors, the scenic trails extending from the Manor House offer endless reasons to step outside and enjoy Avalon’s 60 acres in every season.
